Function
This enzyme catalyzes the interconversion between D-glucose and D-mannose residues at the reducing end of beta-1,4-linked disaccharides by epimerizing the hydroxyl group at the C-2 position of the glucose moiety. Besides, it catalyzes the reversible epimerization of cellobiose to 4-O-beta-D-glucopyranosyl-D-mannose (Glc-Man) and epimerizes lactose to epilactose.
